KCDI Jamaica via its Community Development Unit collaborated with the following stakeholders:
The Negril Police Community Safety Unit, the Ministry of National Security, the Social Development Commission (SDC), and the White Hall Citizen Association to implement the Youth Empowerment Training project aimed at unattached youths, youth at risk and youth who came in conflict with the law.
This project ran for six weeks commencing from June 03, 2013 catering for 40 participants and hosted at the Negril Community Center which is located in the Craft Village.
Youth were exposed to knowing their Rights and Responsibilities under the Jamaican Constitution and then prepared to matriculate into the HEART-Trust programs. The program saw over 50% of the participants graduated and went on to HEART Trust programs. Program Coordinator Ms Ruth Wilson and Officials from the Police Commissioner’s Office, the Ministry of National Security, SDC and the President of the Whitehall Citizen Association participated in the graduation ceremony.
